Hello all! I just finished building the Blue Overdrive and just had some questions about it, since I can't find any sort of demo/example videos. First of all it does sound amazing. I used to rock out with a BD-2 in bands years ago so I'm happy to have the circuit back in my board.

One thing that caught my attention in the description is the note that there is "less noise" in this kit compared to the original. But from my use so far, the "Drive" knob does introduce quite a bit of noise/hum. It's not terrible and certainly nothing that raises any concern about something being wrong, but I guess it's noisier than I expected to be.

I'm just curious if that's expected, if that lines up with others who have built this pedal, etc. ? Regardless I'm very happy with this one!

Keep in mind that a "gain pedal" like the Blue OD will amplify any incoming noise, no matter the source. Some common noise sources include power supplies, single coil pickup 60 Hz hum, noise from other pedals in your signal chain, electrical interference from nearby devices like fluorescent lights or space heaters, etc.

The first thing I'd try is to power the pedal with a 9V battery and run a humbucker guitar through just the Blue OD into your amp, followed by just the guitar straight into the amp. That should give you a pretty good idea of any noise being added by the pedal itself.
