I’m interested in a couple of clean pedals like the Joyo AC Tone and the American. I prefer to build my own. Any kits that would fit the bill? Clean, three band EQ.

BYOC offers three clean boost pedals, but none of them have a 3-band EQ. The MOSFET Boost has gain and level controls, but no EQ. The 27V Boost offers 20dB of gain with a ton of clean headroom, and has a simple treble-cut tone knob. But the one that I think would really interest you is the FET PreAmp, based directly upon the old BOSS FA-1 FET Amp made famous by U2's The Edge. It has a 2-band Baxandall EQ that is AMAZINGLY effective, which I can personally vouch for, since this is my favorite clean boost pedal, by far. From BYOC's product description:

"Not only can it boost & cut treble and bass, but it can cut mids by simultaneously turning up the treble and bass. And it can boost mids by simultaneously cutting treble and bass to make your guitar tone standout from the rest of the mix. But at the same time, it can remain entirely transparent if you just keep the knobs at noon."

Here's a demo video from YouTube; the EQ knobs are on the left, with bass on top and treble underneath, and the level control is on the right. The toggle switch rolls off 6dB of bass below 200 Hz when set to the right:

Right. I think the OP was asking about an amp-in-a-box type of thing, which BYOC does not carry (why not?)...a few jfets here a couple of caps there and voila!

have you considered the parametric EQ? 30dB of clean boost available, and more EQ sculpting than you can shake a channel strip at...
