I was going to see if anybody knows what germanium diodes are used in the silver pony ii? I made noob mistake and cracked one. I looked through the documentation and they are only listed as germanium diodes without any indication of which ones they actually are.

Pretty sure it's D9D in mine.

Any germanium clipping diode should work fine, despite the hype surrounding the mythical original. I believe the D9D, the 1N34A, and some others have been used at different times for these kits.

^ This.

What's really important is the forward voltage threshold of the diode, which should run somewhere in the range of 0.2 - 0.35V for the vast majority of germanium diodes. This is what gives them the greater signal distortion and compression than silicon diodes (FVT = ~0.6V), but also an accompanying greater degree of volume loss since more signal is being clipped.
