A lot of kits were recently shipped without LED's. Also, due to an error in the B.O.M., all of the lazy sprocket kits that were shipped before July 10th are short 1 diode. If your kit is missing a part, please contact sales@buildyourownclone.com with your order# and what is missing from your kit and that part will be sent to you asap.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this possibly dumb question, but here goes...

I just got my delay kit and I'm going through the parts list. I found 2 discrepancies:

1) Instead of a 100pf ceramic disk capacitor I have one marked 101 - Is this close enough?
2) I do not have the three .1uf film capacitors but I do have three extra ones marked 250v 104k - In my simple mind this is .0104, right?

These numbers are cap code shorthand - the last number indicates the range:

1=.0001uF (100pF)
2=.001uF (1000pF/1nF)
3=.01uF (10nF)
4=.1uF (100nF)
5=1uF (1000nF)
6=10uf
7=100uF

A cap marked 101 is a 100pf cap, and those 104 caps are 0.1uF.

Nah - I've just spent way to much time logged into the board today working on back end stuff!

The search field on top there - love it! Great work Matt.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I'm still getting my electronic jargon down. Now that I know my kit is complete I guess it's time to go put this bad boy together. Woo-hoo!

I'm not missing any parts, but something is definitely wrong here...

My circuit board does not match the one in the pictures...and I didn't notice this until AFTER I was 2/3 of the way done!

My circuit board does not have a spot of the LED and the labels of the wire connections are different.

The picture reads, from left to right: Jack, 9V, S3, S2, S1, LED, In, Out, "blank", A2, A1, Jack.

My board reads: Jack, SW2, S1, S2, S3, In, 9v, LED, Out, A1, A2, Jack.

And like I said, I don't seem to have a spot for the LED. On the picture in the .pfd instructions, the LED goes in a little round spot on the side with the 45 degree corners (directly opposite the "in" & "out" wire connections. But on my board, there is no spot for it.

Argh!!! Help me please!!!

Thanks,
Doug

sounds like you have an older style pcb for bezel mounted led's the pedal will still work but if you want the led in there you can still do it, just look for a set of instructions that are for the bezel mounted led and that'll show you how to put it in

Smallbear, pedal parts plus, effects connection, they all carry them. Just search for 'standoffs' and you'll find em.

-edit- if they're missing because you lost them, go that route. If they were not included in your kit, email sales@buildyourownclone.com and Keith and Co. will send them out to you straight away.

hey just curious... i got the Digital Delay ping-pong kid and it calls for the 7 - .01uf film (103 or 10nJ) are those the the blue plastic ones? but instead of saying 10nJ they say 10nK(10nK100) on one side and on the other side say 1U6? or are they different? sorry if this is an inconvenience, i just don't wanna put it together and have something go wrong or not work ya know....

thanks

Right now, I'm building my second byoc pedal - the octave fuzz.

I have a question:

I got a 620k resistor instead of the 680k resistor listed in the instructions. Is this right? Will it affect the pedal?

Hopefully, I asked this in the right place!

620K or 680K will make no difference.

Quick question

I got a 5 knob comp and it came with everything except one 56k resistor. I know I can get them around town, but I don't know which wattage I have to go with. Anyone know?

Thanks

1/4 Watt is what your looking for.

aaaalright. Followup question.

I got the resistor BUT it seems that the ones I got might not be right. I'm not sure how to word this so it might get confusing for both parties. The resistors I bought are at 5% and the BYOC ones are a 1%, whatever that means. Can both be used together? I only have two of the 1% and two of the 5% so I can't use one or the other. I'm hoping that it doesn't matter.... really hoping.

Help?

Absolutely a non-issue, no worries using different tolerance resistors together. You can also use different wattages, so long as you don't go less than 1/8 watt for a 9V build and I'd say 1/4 watt for an 18V build. Even that may be overkill.

The % tolerance is just the rating that it might be, outside of what it's labeled. For instance:

a 100k 1% resistor could have a value from 99k-101k, where a 100k 5% resistor could be 95k-105k. Impossible to notice a difference. Heck, most of the electrolytic caps we use are 20% tolerance :shock:

oooooooooooooooh I see. That makes a ton of sense. Thanks a whole lot. I've been pulling my hair out because of this little issue lol. Those worries have been put to rest. Thanks again!

Hopefully my next post will be about my finished pedal hahah
