Kit Suggestion

Now that BYOC has fully harnessed the power of the dark side (microcontrollers), let's move on a Maestro PS-1 clone! :D

This guy is a great sounding 6-stage FET based phaser with toggles for spped settings. The phase shift speed ramps from one speed setting to the next. There is no bug-free DIY project out there for this circuit, that I'm aware of. The game is to replace the toggles with footswitches so you can get your leslie ramping on with a phaser.

Meh....I'm not convinced

1. The actual phase shifting really isn't any different than the phase90
2. The switches are kind of silly, in my opinion....like on the Dimension C. Why not just have a rate and depth knob?

That PNP transistor off of pin 3 of the LFO op amp....just replace the 1M resistor between its base and +15 with a pot.

For the switching. If you think it through, you can't really do the stomp switching without complicated logic switching or, more easily, microcontroller switching. Because you'd want one switch to defeat whatever other switch is active - say you're in slow mode, when you step on fast mode, you'd want the slow LED to turn off, the fast LED to turn on, and the speed to ramp from slow to fast. And to keep it to 3 switches, you wouldn't want a dedicated bypass switch. You'd want to step on whatever switch is active to go to bypass mode.

For gigging. So you don't have to fumble around with knobs at your feet in the dark. And for the ramping between settings.

And maybe I just realized that one could just build a phase 90 into a wah shell to do the same thing...

Yeah. An expression pedal would be pretty sweet. Or you could use an MCU to produce the LFO, and then save presets.

Yep. I'd LOVE more BYOC kits with any kind of ramped modulation. The vibe is on my short list, but I never quite seem to have the cash handy. :)

This reminds me to get back to my Tri-Vibe In A Wah Shell project. It's got an EA tremolo in there now as proof of concept. Need to dig up the place where I found C500k wah pots to finish. :?
