Hi all! Just wanted to report my finding that the new pots with the plastic casings make the bottom row of knobs too wide for the pre-drilled holes in the enclosure. Not a big deal, as I chose to simply widen the holes with a drill rather than attempt to remove the plastic casings, but I'm sure others will be running into this as well.

Thanks!!

Pull the dust covers off.

Thanks. That worked. I thought they were glued on because they were so snug. I'll claim that as a dumb error.

Another way to accommodate the added width of the dust covers is to use an exacto or utility knife to trim off the plastic just at the area where the pots touch. This has the benefit of leaving the vast majority of the cover in place for the dust protection it affords.

I know some people love the dust covers. Personally, I think they are totally superfluous. I don't like them, but that's just the way they are coming now. The pots are protected inside the enclosure. There's no openings. It's not like a wah enclosure that has a huge opening for dust to get in. So there's really no need for dust covers. I say just take them off if you need the space. Unfortunately, they are REALLY tight. You've really got to pull hard on them. I've found it's best to pull them off with a pair of diagonal cutters. Bite into them with the dikes and then pry it off. It helps by puncturing it to a release the vacuum that holds it on so tight.

Thanks, guys. I was able to get them all in with pulling the cover off of the middle pot. I had slightly widened the holes so this worked. Glad to hear it wasn't just me having trouble removing it. Diagonals did the trick.

By the way, you totally nailed it with this pedal. I'm so stoked about it. For years I've been wanting a solid, malleable compressor with character, but also enough transparency to leave on all the time. This is totally it. I never thought I'd find it in a DIY kit. Super-low noise floor too! Bravo!

Just for kicks, I painted it Fairchild 660-bronze. Glad I did; it's actually got a little bit of that type of character, but in a neat little transistorized stomp package. I'll probably change knobs and label soon. Anyway, thanks for the help and the awesome design. It was a blast to build and is going to be even better to play!
