Hi. Reel noob here. Just finished my first build ever. The Classic Fuzz. Lots of fun. I already have a Green Pony kit and can't wait to do it. That being said, I find the Classic Fuzz lacks a lot of output. I pretty much need to put the volume and fuzz knobs at 11 to get good volume. And I'd still like more of it. I was wondering if there's any possible mods to "fix" that? It would also be a nice way to learn stuff in the process. Cheers.

While I have never owned a vintage Fuzz Face, every one I have built (Ge, Si, PNP, NPN) has been lacking in output. Seems to me it's just the nature of that circuit. I tend to pair it with a boost circuit to make up for it.

^ This. If you're just looking for more output volume, put the boost after the fuzz. If you want more gain/fuzz, put it before....but avoid boosts that contain a buffer, which tends to dramatically alter the way the fuzz sounds. Some people like the change, but most do not.

Thanks for the responses! Still I'm wondering, as a way to continu to learn about pedal building, what are the possible mods.
