Build Your Own Clone Message Board

I'm getting ready to build a new ts 808 clone and was wondering how to use the Ge diodes that came with my kit. Do they compare to the large black diodes or are they more like the small orange ones. I was thinking maybe of using one small orange and the two Germs. Would this be the way to go....Has anyone tried this set up out.

I have made one other 808 (Cherry Red Hot Drive) on the older board and the BB box and it has the the two orange diodes in it so I was wanting to try a new type of clipping on this one.

i built a screamer for my brother with this diode configuration and it had way less gain than the other configurations. however, it made a great boost pedal for his '75 marshall. he also uses it in front of his dual rectifier all the time when he records. he's kind of a tube distortion junky.
