can someone explain the audible differences in component material. like ceramic and metal film caps, carbon comp and metal film resistors, etc.

I've never tried myself to find out, but these are the boutiqe's main arguments.

Metal film resistors - Lower background hum
Carbon resistors - warmer sounding

ceramic caps - to be honest not 100% sure, I wanna say that the argument is that they are warm sounding
Metal film caps - a smoother rounding of sound to enhance tonal qualites
