Trying to find some new tubes for a friends old amp. I cant find any info on the amp , or direct replacements for the tubes , so I need some substitutes. Hoping you guys can give me a little direction

The preamps are the usual 12ax7 which is no problem but the rectifier is a 6x4 which I think I have found a replacement for but the power tube I am not sure of (7189?). Can I just put an el84 in for replacement? It is an old matsushiki the numbers on it are 7189 t , here are some pics of the amp and tubes. If you need gutshots and pics of transformers to know for sure , Just let me know and I will take some

From what I've read, the 7189 is a more rugged version of the EL84, rated for plate voltages up to 400V vs. 300V for the EL84. So you may want to check the amp's plate voltage before substituting an EL84.

Initial research tells me that 7189s are industrial/military grade 6BQ5/EL84s. The pinout is the same but the voltage rating of the 7189 is higher - 400V (or 33% more than a standard El84). Does that mean you can drop an EL84 in there? It depends on that amp.

Or, what DVM said better than me before I could get to it
