Stumbled on an old Ibanez 7 string body & neck project. Body totally trashed. Neck is dead sexy. Body & headstock are getting several coats of gloss white & clear nitro. I might be crazy but I want chrome lipstick hummers to match all chrome hardware.

Can't find the pickups anywhere. DANELECTRO used to make the MOD7 with a lipstick humbucker at the bridge. Any ideas where I could find a pair? Checked all the usual suspects...ebay, GFS, 7 string sites, etc.

Is this something Granville could wind for me?

Thanks

Neither DiMarzio nor SeymourD make a lipstick 7 anymore. Danelectro also made a 7 string Hodad for a while. There have to be some parts laying around somewhere.

Maybe scooter can custom wind one.

I think the tricky part in this, is to get the pickup «covers».

I've never opened one up, but if the 6 string tubes have a half inch overlap they just might fit 7 strings too. The 7th string adds an additional .4 inches. Not much margin, but maybe enough. Thanks for the comments.

In my mind it's such a beautiful instrument. Oh well, it's not the first thing to float out of my head that didn't work. I'll keep looking for now.

Resurrection...
Need help. (No, not that kind.) Still trying to find a pair of the high output (14 ohm iirc) lipstick humbuckers Danelectro used in their Mod7. No help from Dano, DiMarzio, S Duncan, or any of the other usual suspects. (Kaiser Soza anyone?)
Dano also made a 12 string, but I can't find the specs to see if the 12 string pups are wide enough for a 7 string.
I know one of you wizards has got what I need laying in that box of parts out in the garage. :D Right? Maybe?

If you wanted to buy the whole guitar and then harvest the PUs that way.....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131067255407?lpid=82

Given the $450 Price tag probably not :?

I've honestly thought about that, but to get two hummers I'd need two guitars.
Unless... can the two single coils be wired up as a humbucker?
Or may be just install both singles in the neck position on a single volume control?
Might sceam like a she-wolf.
Nothing quite like an unleashed imagination.

Far as I know a standard HB is just two singles wired in series. Unless there's something about the lipstick that complicates things, that should probably be all there is to it.
