I want to buy a pair of BC183 silicon transistors for a BYOC fuzz face pedal.

I know that germanium transistors are tricky to buy

But with silicon transistors, is it ok for me to buy just any 2 pieces for a pair?

In other words, do silicon transistors have to be hand selected and matched for the proper pair?

My understanding is that silicon transistors, especially from more recent production, are FAR more consistent than germaniums and don't generally require sorting.

EDIT: Small Bear has BC183's: http://www.smallbear-electronics.mybigc ... -bc183-ti/
