Hey all,

I just finished the classic compressor build and when switched on nothing happens other than the LED light coming on. When turned off, sound comes out of the amp but when switched on it's completely silent. Attaching pics below. Hope someone can spot something that I am missing. The first two pics are the guts top view and bottom view. After looking at them I went back in and cleaned up the wires connecting to the jacks and the foots witch.. The clean up did not change anything with the outcome.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mike C.

Does adjusting the trimpot have any effect?

No change when adjusting the trim pot. I will probably reflow the joints and see if that works unless someone spots something wrong that I missed.

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it? If so, please take voltage readings of the CA3080 chip.

From moderator duhvoodooman in another thread:

To measure the DC voltage level on the IC pins, set your multimeter to the DC voltage mode, indicated by a solid line above a dotted one. Use the 20VDC range setting if it's not an auto-ranging meter. Your power source needs to be connected and there needs to be a cable in the input jack. If the pedal is assembled into the metal enclosure, put the black probe into one of the corner screw bosses of the enclosure--this is your ground connection. If the "guts" are out of the enclosure, use the sleeve tab of the input jack for the ground connection. Then touch the red probe to each point that you want to measure. See left side of the image below for the numbering of the pins.

The values should all be between 0 and ~9V. Beyond that, you provide the results you get and we can tell you whether or not they make sense.
