Help... I can't figure out all the resistors from the parts checklist.

I usuallyuse the color coding that Keith gives, but this time it's got 5 colors listed (ie, brown/black/black/black/brown). I cant seem to figure out the color scheme.

For instance, the list says there are 15 10k (br/bl/bl/red/br), but I have 15 which are brow/black/orange/gold.

I suddenly feel a complete dumbo not being able to check my parts list.

The gold band is the tolerance. The first three are the value.

Yeah, I know, it's just that in the parts check list there are 5 colour bands for the codes and they don't seem to be correct.

I guess this will force me to learn to calculate the color codes for myself. :)

most any pack of resistors at radioshack has a code on the back too if u just want something to keep at your workshop (a.k.a. desk that was cleared to build your pedal)

I don't know if they sell them at Radio Shack anymore, but, I've got a little cardboard decoder with little color wheels in it, where all you have to do is dial in the colors of your resistor, and it tells you what the value is. I've this thing for almost 20 years now and it's been a big help.

Thats pretty kewl! But I just bought a few packs too many last week and it had the code on the back.

P.S. Where could I find a 5n6, 8n2, 15n, and 33n capacitor? Radioshack dosent seem to have them.

Shame on you Mantas, you mean after 20 years you haven't learned the codes off by heart. :p - That does sound like a nifty thing to have.

BTW, this is the page I used to cheat with, works pretty nice

I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning let alone resistor color codes - LOL. Someone tried to teach me a little limerick once that helped you remember them. I guess I just didn't like the melody of it very much - LOL.
