Hi, I have recently built the lil reverb and am encountering a pop overtime I turn the pedal on. I'm not sure that pop is the right word overtime the pedal is turned on there is a pop with reverb decay. Its always the loudest the first time I turn on the pedal. I have it in a looper which I thought would solve the problem but alas it hasn't.

any help would be appreciated

Wow - that is one gnarly pop! This is almost always caused by DC voltage building up on the input side of the circuit. When you step on the switch and it switches out of bypass, that DC 'offset' causes the noise you are hearing.

Bad solder joints, excess solder, or even conductive solder flux can be the source of this voltage build up. I recommend resoldering components as described in the post below to reflow and reset everything. then clean the solder side of the pcb with some alcohol to clean off the excess solder flux.

Update: So I reflowed the solder to no avail. Then I decided to remove the solder and re-solder each component, I also switched out the wire and shortened it to help the pcb to sit flat in the enclosure. I desolders the footswitch which was the biggest pain.
All this to say that the gnarly pop and fizzle has noticeably lessened. I find the pop level tolerable now, I'm not sure if it is actually a tolerable level or if I just do not want to fidget with the pedal again.

anyways, thanks again for your input. I don't think I would have attempted to fix this problem without understanding what the problem was

cheers

True bypass pedals always have at least some small amount of pop. Reverbs and compressors are always the most noticeable. Your pop probably has more to do with environment rather than the actual pedal itself though. Do you have a lot of other electronic devices running nearby? Are you using a good power supply?

I have a fair amount of electronics within a 10 to 20ft radius of my pedalboard. My pedalboard is powered by a voodoo labs pedal power 2 and I have a few of the OD powered by a one spot, but the reverb is powered by the voodoo labs.
