First off...

This is my first build ever...and my first time using a soldering iron...

That said, I followed the directions and feel like the soldering is decent. Below are 3 pictures of my PCB 9 (front, back and input).

Things to note:

Bypass works fine, issue is, once I turn on the pedal...nothing happens, no signal, no LED light. I've tried using a 9V power source (checked in on other pedals, works fine) also tried using a 9V battery...nothing.

Only thing I can come up with is either the soldering is bad or I've messed up the IC's. I do recall not looking at the orientation when I soldered the sockets down on the IC, didn't think that was a big deal since it wasn't outlined on the instructions.

Any help would be more than welcomed!!

can you check both (+) power spot on the board it's hard to tell but it looks like they might be switched. No LED powering definitely is a sign of a power issue (or a backwards LED.) Have you reflowed all of your solder joints?

It also looks like your TL072 is backwards this would be a big deal as far as frying the charge pump. The socket doesn't really matter which way you solder it in but doing it the way shown on the pcb helps when you have to put the ic in because it's already showing you the correct orientation. pg 29 of the instructions goes over IC and identifying markings in relation to orientation.

Hi - welcome to the forum! :D

Here are a few things to note and/or check:
- Thank you for providing photos, however those are a little too small to be very useful.
- As mentioned, your TL072 is installed backwards. This may or may not harm the chip. But you definitely will not get any signal through the pedal with it installed backwards. Check the instructions again and note the orientation of the chip. Reinstall it and try the pedal again.
- Review these posts, follow all instructions, and try to improve the quality of your build:

Please note that this circuit does not have or use a charge pump.

Thanks for the tips...unfortunately, still no power.

I flipped the IC to the proper place (confirm if you can) and I reflowed the solder joints. I've attached new pictures...not sure if I'm using enough solder or not (again first time using a soldering iron).

Tried both a 9V power source and battery...no power, just bypass.

Do I need to add more solder?

Any thoughts?

I think you've got the two + wires from the DC adapter jack mixed up. It shouldn't make a difference if you're using a battery though. Maybe your battery is dead.

If the battery checks out OK, there's still a chance that the TL072 burned out while powered on and installed upside down. So it's probably worth your while to get a replacement. Any general purpose dual op amp should work there, so if you can't readily find a TL072, good substitutes would include a JRC4558D, RP4558P, NE5532, TL082, LM833 or OPA2134A, among others. Most of these cost only a buck or two.

Thanks for all the replies! I made the switch on the input Jack, reflowed and I’m in business!

Pedal works great!
