Hi Everyone,

I'm relatively a new pedal building BYOC Analog Delay is my fourth pedal kit. I seem to be having a similar issue as everyone else on the forum, but with a minor caveat:

I get a dry signal when the pedal is off, and get a dry signal when the pedal is on (LED is working). However, when I unplug the AC adapter, while the pedal is on, and re-plug it back in I get a wet signal. Another solution is that I hit the pedal switch on and off and I might get a signal. However the second remediation is not as consistent in resolving the issue.

Below is a photo of my PCB front (in case) and back. The only thing I have not shown is the back plate that has been taped up so the components don't touch the back. I have also included power readings from when the IC's get wet signal vs when IC's are supposed to work, but I get a dry signal. I have also included the table of IC voltage reads I get when the pedal is "on" but with dry signal and "on" with proper "wet signal".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping me troubleshoot this bad boy.

I split your post from the other one; even though you're reporting the same symptoms, we prefer to keep each case separate in order to track progress better, and because similar symptoms often have different causes. (Normally we'd just ask you to repost, but you've gone to all the trouble to post photos and voltages.)

I'll leave it here for now; others may be able to offer advice more quickly than I can while at work.

Something is causing your delay line voltage to drop by an entire volt when the wet signal cuts out. It doesn't appear to be affecting the voltage to the rest of the pedal, so it's not a "global" problem. It would be something after the R39/C15 power filter in the "Vb" power supply.

When the pedal is on, but the wet signal is not working, have you tried adjusting the bias trimmer? What are you using for a power supply?

Hello,

If i'm understanding @byoc correctly, it sounds like the problem is downstream after R39 and C15 step down subcircuit. To first answer your question:

1. When the pedal is on and wet signal is not working i have adjusted the bias trimmer. The wet signal was revived once, but no amount of turn after that made it work again.

2. my power supply is the 9v power adapter

based on item 1 above, do you recommend that i trace all the components from the power input to the bias trimmer? See highlighted components below:

I think I fixed it for the last time, and the fix was pretty stupid. I opened the box and tried to look for any bad components and mistakenly pushed one on accident and I stumbled on the culprit capacitor that was a little loose. I didn’t think it was, but I guess enough to lose signal. Signal would cut in and out as I pushed the C27 capacitor. So all I did was reheat the leg and push it through deeper into terminal and added solder….it works now!

Thank you!

I know it can be frustrating sometimes. Glad you were able to find that needle in the haystack!
