I am having an issue with the pedal that I just assembled. The build seemed to go without an issue. But, when I plug the pedal into the guitar and amp, I get no sound.

The LED on the pedal switches on and off with the foot switch. And I do hear a slight click noise when I switch the pedal on through my amp. But I do not get sound with the pedal on or off.

I checked my cables and power supply to make sure they were functioning correctly. No issues there.

Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting?
Thanks!ImageImage

So just to make sure that I understand your problem, are you saying that you get NO GUITAR SIGNAL with the pedal either engaged (LED on) or bypassed (LED off)?

That is correct, thanks!

There are only a few spots on the board that are in play with both the engaged and bypass switch positions. That would be the input and output jacks themselves, the wires from the jacks to IN and OUT on the PCB, and the jumper wire from lug 8 to the eyelet marked 8. So you could start by reflowing the solder on all those spots and see where that leaves you.

That being said, all of your switch wiring looks dicey to me, especially the jumper from 4 to 9, which is crucial for bypass signal. It is possible that this is the reason for the lack of bypass signal, and another unrelated problem in the build is preventing your engaged signal. If it were me, I would focus on getting bypass to work first. You could reflow the solder on lugs 4 and 9 of the switch, making sure there are no places where solder or wire strands connect to anything else. Be careful not to apply too much heat to the switch, because you can damage the internals pretty easily if you do that.

If you are the kind of person who works better when you know why you're doing what you're doing, you can read about mechanical bypass switching in detail in this excellent thread by Stephen.

If you have access to a multimeter and know how to use one to measure for point-to-point circuit continuity, you can quite easily check the bypassed signal path to see where the discontinuity is occurring, since this is very likely the cause of the pedal not working in either footswitch position. How this is done is covered in detail in item #3 in this informational post: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52785

Yes, meant to add that to my response. A multimeter to check continuity is the best way to track this down. If you have one and don't know what to do after reading the link duhvoodooman provided, just let us know, and we'll be happy to help.

Thank you very much for the great advice! I reflowed the solder at the points mentioned. And decided to rewire the jumper from 4 to 9. The pedal now provides guitar signal in bypass mode and in fixed wah mode. Unfortunately, the envelope filter is not functioning. I plan on going through the pedal with a multimeter to see where I am losing continuity. I appreciate all the feedback. Thank you!

A complete solder reflow often solves problems such as this. You might want to work through this process: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

Thanks again for the sound advice!

I did not have a multimeter at my disposal until tomorrow. So, I took the last suggestion and reflowed all the solder points on the PCB and switch.

I am happy to report that the pedal is now completely operational! Now the fun begins! Mwahahaha!

Thanks, you folks are awesome!

Love to hear it, congrats!

Now the obligatory follow-up question: what are you going to build next?
