Hi,

I recently completed the envelope filter kit and it didn't work. The bypass worked fine, but when the pedal was turned on the LED would light up but no effect, no sound at all. I started troubleshooting and noticed I have both the 8 pin and 16 pin ICs flipped. I tried just removing the IC's and flipping them the right way, but it still doesn't work. So here's my question: To fix this do I just need to de-solder the IC sockets and re-solder them in the correct orientation and then re-insert the ICs? Did powering the pedal up with the ICs in the wrong way damage anything?

Just a stupid mistake on my part. Thanks in advance for any help.

Jason

If you installed the op-amp (IC1) backwards I can pretty much guarantee you that it's fried. If you have a spare op-amp try plugging it into the circuit.

Having the IC sockets installed backwards does not matter to the circuit as long as the IC is installed correctly. If you plan to keep the pedal it's no big deal. However if you sell it and the buyer decides he/she wants to swap out an IC for another this could lead to problems if they are not aware that the sockets are backwards.

Thanks for the help. I will order some new ICs and switch the sockets just to prevent future problems.
