Hello,

I just completed the pedal. It works, but I cannot get a swell that is slow enough for my taste. It does not matter where the internal trimpot is placed, the swell seems to be too abrupt. Actuallythe trimpot's effect seem to be small on the overal behavior of the pedal. Does anybody know of a mod to increase the time of the swell?

Thank you.

It's quite common with the fine-tuning trimpots that there is just a really small sweet spot; all you're really doing is trying to perfect the balance between a good swell effect and the volume loss that can occur.

That said, I am interested in the answer to your question, because although my LS acts just like the original (the goal of a clone!), I'd also be interested in a more dramatic version if it's possible to obtain.

I do not have a original Boss SG to compare with, but I do not get my LS to do the swell thing like the ones on Youtube. Most of the time my LS reminds me a noise gate because the turnon/turnoff times are sort of fast. I will keep trying to find a sweet spot though.

Did you happen to notice this thread? It doesn't sound like your problem is this extreme, but we do know that some of the kits went out with counterfeit JFETs. If that's the case for you, you can contact BYOC for a replacement using the email address mentioned in the thread.

The SG-1 doesn't have a super long swell time. Assuming that your Lazy Sprocket is working correctly, you could try to mod it by using a larger value swell pot. Try a 50k instead of a 25k.

Thank you Scott and Keith for the reply.

I am afraid that my LS came with one of those counterfeit JFETs. I purchased my kit November 7th. It has been in a drawer for more than one month for me to have some free time to put it together. Probably it was one of the first kits mailed after the LS was reissued, since I placed the order almost right away when I saw the promotional email from BYOC.

Currently I am traveling, but in a few days I should be back home. Then I will try to get the JFET from a local store and I will report what happens. I would only contact BYOC if I do not find that part around.

Jose

Feel free to contact us for a replacement JFET. One of them has your name on it, just say the word. Send an email to sales@buildyourownclone.com and we'll take care of you.
