Classic phaser build. My first time! I installed my last 4 pin IC socket (??) backwards. They have 8 small pins. The CB shows which way the notch should locate. I stupidly did not on last one. Fatal? Any remedy? Sorry for the rookie mistake and posting!

Typically, you have to replace the IC BUT does it work? Can you get a DMM to take readings on each leg?

Like jimilee said, maybe yes, maybe no. Try it in the correct orientation and see if it still works.

As I read your post, it looks like you're saying you just installed the socket backwards, not the IC itself. If that's the case, it's no problem at all, because the socket is just there to connect the IC without having to solder it. Just remember to follow the orientation on the PCB silkscreen, not the orientation of the socket.

If what you mean is that you installed the IC backwards, then yes: what the other guys said.
