I have a spare 1590 enclosure, so I'm placing my trem into this box (the 1290ns I had was just a tad too small), but no biggie.

I'm going to create a template for this box soon, but I have a question about the LED.

I've noticed that most BYOC kits have you solder the LED straight into the pcb and out through the bezel... I would rather wire it to a bezel and then solder wires from the led to the pcb.

I have the 2.2 pcb and in the pdf directions, it says the following:
"Insert the LED into its slot on the underside or "solder side" of the circuit board, but DO NOT
SOLDER it yet. Make sure the anode(the long leg) goes in the round solder pad and the cathode(the
short leg)goes in the square solder pad. No. This is not a typo. Yes. This is contradictory to the way
most polarized components go in the circuit board.
"

My questions are:
1.) Is that still valid for 2.2? (if yes/no, then why?)
2.) When I go led -> wire-> pcb, do I need to solder the positive wire that goes to the LED to the round solder pad?

I'm so used to round = negative, square = positive, so I'm a bit confused.

Just wire to the "LED+" and "LED-" wire pads on the board edge (unused in the wiring diagram) instead of the LED footprint. Anode to LED+, cathode to LED-. HTH
