my problem is when i built my phaser and plugged it in, i noticed that there was alot of distortion and noise when the phaser was turned on, and when looked at on a scope shows to have alot of noise on the signal. i put a filter cap ~100pf across the + and- of the output and that cleaned up a little of the noise but the distortion still remains. please help

Well...for starters....you don't have the circuit inside a metal enclosure. This shields the circuit from all sorts of noise polutants.

If the distortion you are getting sounds like clipping, perhaps the op amps you are using have poor headroom. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the trimpot you are using.

Did you match your fets? Are you using a 2n4125 or a workalike?

uhhh well i asked the guy at the electronics shop for the 2n4125 and he gave me the "closest thing he had". they are NTE312 fets. now that im looking at the package, it dosent even say it replaces the 2n4125... oops is that my problem?

That's probably the cause of the clipping. The 2N4125 is the output buffer so if it's not a real work-a-like, then you can have trouble. If you live in north america, you can get a real 2N4125 from mouser.com
