Hi Keith,

Some time ago, I recall you mentioning that you had a new preference for the univibe mod cap values on the now discontinued Fully Loaded Phaser. You mentioned that you now preferred the values .0027 and .47.

I'd like to try those new values, but I just want to make sure I'm changing the right caps. Looking at the board, it appears that the values to be replaced are .01 and .1 (On the board, each of these caps is sandwiched between a 10K resistor and a .05 cap). So, in effect, in changing those values, the first one would be decreased a little while the second would be increased a little.

Have I got this right? Much thanks!

M

Yes, thanks, I forgot to mention that.

It's the older board, the one for the now discontinued fully-loaded phaser.

Each cap is sandwiched between a 10K resistor and a .05 cap which flank the TL074 op-amp.

I no longer have the files (or I dont' know where I put them) for the old OLD phaser board. SO I'm not exactly sure which one they are. But you should see 4 or the 6 .05uf caps clustered in a sort of pattern. You want to change either the 1st and 3rd or the 2nd and 4th. Try both...see which sounds better.

For what it's worth, I've now tried those values (.47 and .0022) and find that the old board spec values (.1 and .01) sounded just fine.

The new values (.47 and .0022) made the "univibe" setting sound kind of muffled and overly middy, whereas there was no problem with the sound at spec values.

Your mileage may vary of course, but I'll be putting mine back to original spec.
