Hey guys! First build in 10+ years. First time picking up an iron in 10+ years. I hear a slight hum when I fiddle with the output jack, but nothing else. Anybody see anything else?

Be brutal. I need to learn!

I'd be reflowing some of those solder joint, in particular these, and adding a little extra solder to them.

I’d also do something about all those exposed strands of wire. Strip off a little insulation and tin the strands. Then stick the tinned wire all the way thru the eyelet until the insulation butts up against the PCB and then solder.

Let’s have a look at the jacks too while we’re at it.

Shout out! I plugged it in-- BINGO!

1) I went to a new battery
2) I think one of the joints had not nearly enough solder on it. Shout out to guitarmageddon because it was one of the joints you indentified.

This is a cool little pedal.

It is possible to add a power jack (I hate batteries) and a on-off button with an enclosure. What do you guys think... it would just be a step n go type thing for solos or whatever.

Cool! Congrats. :D
Yes, you can box it up. There's a thread somewhere about housing it ... :? HERE's one that has the relevant wiring diagram though.
Indeed, batteries are bad! The diagram uses a DC jack that has a battery disconnect, but just omit the battery snap since you won't need it.

Also, do a search for confidence boost in an enclosure, there a good thread here somewhere as guitarmageddon said. A bunch of us have done it.

Just completed my first build as a confidence booster with the stomp switch and the led and a pot to replace the trim pot. It worked but was so noisy using a power supply it wasn't going to be much use on my pedal board. The LED never came but the True Bypass did work correctly. I unsoldered all the extra parts and redid it the way it comes out the box and ran it off a battery and it sounds just like the ones on You Tube. On to my Analog chorus.
