Hi Folks,

Just ordered my first BYOC (27V Boost). I have a few questions:

1- As I calculate it, the input impedance is around 410K ohms (approximately R1 in parallel with R3). I would prefer a higher input impedance. Is there any particular issue with changing R1 to 1.5M?

2- I want this to be the cleanest and lowest noise pedal I can build, so I am considering using either an NE5532 or an OPA2134. Anyone done this successfully? Opinions?

3- Finally, I would like to socket the ICs. Is there room? The comment in the instructions about parts extending beyond the bottom of the box makes me a little concerned.

Thanks!
Jerry

1) I used a 2.2M for R1 in mine without any issues.

2) You can use any dual op-amp you want for the IC. Will using a low noise op-amp make a significant difference in the circuit’s noise floor? Maybe… maybe not. Personally I feel a high quality regulated power supply would do more to keep any noise to a minimum. I power my mini pedal board with a rechargeable 12V lead-acid battery to keep noise level down. I wouldn’t be able to use my Germanium treble booster in the chain if I didn’t.

3) Mouser has low profile sockets that may or may not allow you to socket the op-amp. Take a look at the data sheet to see if you have enough clearance room in your build.
