Hi all. New here.

I bought the Germanium Boost kit and assembled it last week. It's excellent. Thank you.

I'm pretty good at building stuff but not necessarily very good with understanding schematics or the circuits.
With that in mind, I have what I think is a simple (and probably dumb) question. The instructions state to adjust the trim pot by ear. But, can the GE transistor be biased with a meter "as usual"? I read the GEO article which states bias of the GE transistor should be adjusted to -6.6 to -7.2v by measuring between the collector and ground. With the BYOC circuit tweaked for compatibility with other pedals and "normal" neg. ground supplies, I'm wondering if that also changes the way the transistor is biased. Or, the method in which to check/adjust the bias.

Thanks.

Figured it out. For anyone unaware and interested, you simply need to meter from +9v to collector. #3 lug on pot is connected to the collector so you can place the probe there.

For the record, I also have had/do have Germanium treble boosters that use an IC to invert voltage. I'm convinced that they tend to be a bit noisier.

I really like this BYOC boost. Wish the board was available as a stand alone item. I'd like to build 2 or 3 more to compare transistors. I really like that the pots are PCB mounted. PITA if you end up with a toggle or pot going south but makes for a very neat build otherwise.

Nice job gents.

Thanks

Send an email to sales@buildyourownclone.com asking to purchase just the PCB, and Hayley will work with you.

You could build some mini TB pedals for your friends.

I'll do that. Thanks.
