Okay so I finished my FET PreAmp today, plugged it in, and good to go. Sound in bypass, sound when engaged, LED came on, all the controls worked. Played for about about an hour with it, sounded great, worked as advertised. I then had to take a break and run some errands yadda yadda, so shut everything off and left.

I came back about 3 hours later, fired everything up and started playing around, after about 10 minutes I started getting some scratchy sounds from the amp with the FET PreAmp (I run two amps together). I shut it off, amp is crystal clean, turn the FET back on scratchy comes back. Played around another 10 minutes and it died, now the FET has no sound when turned on. I get signal with Bypass no problem, turn it on LED lights up, no sound.

Any thoughts on what would cause the scratchy sounds and why it would just quit on me?

I would try removing the chips from their sockets and reseating them.

So I pulled the chips and then put them back in and made sure they were secure. They were pretty tight coming out, but hey whatever, it worked. Pedal is back up and running.

Okay so the re-seating the chips worked for about 18 hours of play time and now the pedal is back to scratching sounds and then either really low volume or just no volume. I took the chips out and put them back again, that worked for about 15-20 minutes and then it crapped out again.

Any thoughts?

Seems as though physical movement is fixing your issue leading me to believe there is a suspect solder joint somewhere. I'd reflow the board and add some solder to the wire connections (the 3PDT looks a bit starved).

could also be corrosion or "bloom" in the sockets or on the legs of the chips causing intermittent connection. You could try cleaning both with DeOxit Gold or similar product, or simply desoldering the sockets and soldering the chips directly to the board. I almost never trust sockets due to this, preferring to solder all but the most expensive chips etc direct to the PCB.

I re-soldered the 3dpt switch, and checked all the solder joints on the board its all tight. I also cleaned the chip and socket connections. The only thing that did anything was re-seating the chips but now it doesn't seem to matter as the thing produces no sound. In bypass it provides a clean tone, but once engaged the led comes on and there is no sound, not even crackle anymore.

Any other suggestion save removing the sockets and soldering the chips directly to the board?

I would email BYOC, point them to this thread, and see if they think a new set of chips might help.
