After finishing the Parametric EQ kit and powering it on for a test run, I discovered that the Q control for high frequencies isn't working (everything else seems to function normally). I figured I'd open her up and re-flow everything, but I'm having trouble removing the ICs to do so.

Does anybody have any tips for how to remove these ICs from the sockets? How important is it that I take them out before re-soldering?
