Ok, so I built this pedal in March 2015 and it worked flawlessly until today, btw great pedal I use for my acoustic rig.
I always used an Ibanez regulated power supply for it and no problems.
Today i wanted to minimize the pedal board so I connected it to my one spot, and after a while it started making noises and then no signal, only in bypass.
I dont have anything against the 1spot, it served me years without a glitch, and will continue so.
After reading posts I suspect the ic max1044, so i ordered some , from ebay. also the 7660s.

Is this the right direction, based on my description, (and that everthing worked perfecty untill this change)and is the 1spot, stronger than 9v, Im just doing the math, based on this experience.

Seems likely, the MAX1044 is notoriously sensitive to overvoltage...

This is why when I need a voltage doubler, I get the LT1054 instead of the MAX1044. It's rated for up to 15V input voltage vs. the 10V rating of the 1044 and will output 5x more current (100mA vs. 20 mA). And the cost is a wash.
