Greetings all. It's been a VERY long time since I've built a kit, and even longer since I've posted on this forum, and even longer still since I was a moderator in the Screamer forum. I recently decided that i was tired of not having a wah, and bought the drop-in kit for my old vox wah.

Built it today, no problems. i added an side "On indicator" LED, but otherwise i performed no mods on this build (i used the .01uf range cap). However, once I was done I noticed a couple things that lead me to believe that I may have done something wrong. The bass Trimmer only has a function for the last 10% of the sweep. and the options are bassy or bassier. if you have the trimmer turned less than 90% up, there is no sound at all coming through the wah.

Secondly, the "Gain" trimmer has no effect on the pedal. The tone of the wah is good, but is VERY gainy, and my preference would be for it to be set with lower gain.

I will take pics in a bit (Sitting down for dinner), but for now, does anyone have a suggestion for what would cause the wah to be super Bassy with no sweep for the trimmer, and really gainy, with no difference for the trimmer.

Did I maybe install the trimmers improperly?

Hey Fuzzy! Welcome back :)

It may be that the trim pots were switched, but we'll have to see some pics, you know the drill!

ok, well I took some photos and did some poking around. I discovered that I had swapped the two trimmers. I used the 100K for Bass, and the 1k for Gain. I got that sorted out, and then happily plugged it in to see if I could dial in a better wah sound and... NOTHING!

after like an hour of trouble shooting I realized that I had the power supply plugged in incorrectly. Anyway, now the wah is running fine. I wish it had more "Highs" for my tastes, I might try swapping out the range cap for a smaller value.
