Bypass works. Wah does not.

I have allowed for an future LED/with resistor when I get them so I have wired directly from the (+) solder pad on the DC jack to lug #1 on the foot switch.
I have followed the directions for the 3PDT True Bypass.
I assumed that the "from input" refers to the input jack Tip and the "to output" refers to the output jack Tip.
I have grounded lug #2 on the switch to the Input jack sleeve.
I set all of the trimpots to the recommended settings and marked them.
I have not installed a wire from the Batt Ground to the Input jack Ring lug.
Does anything look out of place.

Looks like your tip isn't hooked to the tip, it looks like it's connected to where your battery neg goes.

Hey jimilee, where are you referring?

I've checked the DC adaptor jack and the wire is soldered to the other + terminal, NOT the Bat+. I have this directly wired to Lug 1 on the foot switch. I plan to install an LED with a 2k resistor at a later date. Could this be the issue?

I have not installed a wire from the Batt Ground to the Input jack Ring lug. Could this be the issue? I could not find any clear direction to do this. I think it was one of Stevens posts some time back.

The foot switch:
Lug 4 to Input Jack Tip
Lug 5 to PCB input
Lug 7 to PCB output
Lug 8 to Output Jack Tip

jimilee,
The input jack is wired like this with all solder joints looking good:

Tip - To Lug 4 on foot switch.
Sleeve - to Lug 2 on the foot switch and to the "jack" on PCB
Ring - to the "Ring" on the PCB

Where does the Bat neg that you are referring to?

Thanks...

If I am interpreting the above statements correctly, this would mean that when you engage the pedal and lugs 1 & 2 connect through the footswitch, you'll be dumping your DC voltage directly to ground. No voltage = no effect.

Try disconnecting & taping off the wire at lug 1 and try the pedal then.

You the duhvoodooman.

I cut the wire and we have WAH.

Will it still work when i wire the LED and the resistor between the cut ends or is there something else going on?

Thanks........

Great! I was pretty sure that would do the trick.

Yes, you'll be OK, since you'll have the resistance of the LED and the current-limiting resistor between your voltage source and ground, rather than the dead short you had before.

Thanks so much.
One last question, Should I install a wire from the Batt Ground to the Input jack Ring lug?
I think it was one of Stevens posts some time back to achieve true bypass.

No, the battery is connected to ground by the battery harness that is attached to the PCB.

Steven - your post-
Post subject: Re: Wiring wah with LEDPostPosted: Fri Jul 04, 2014 6:42 am
Ground the PCB and lug 2 of the stomp switch to the Sleeve lug of the input jack. Connect the battery harness ground to the Ring lug of the input jack. This way the LED and PCB can’t draw power unless there is a plug in the input jack.

The connection of the batter harness ground to the Ring of the input Jack. This is the comment I was referring to. Is this step not needed?

Thanks.....

There is no need to connect the harness’ ground wire directly to the ring lug of the input jack. That is done by the wire that connects the ring solder pad on the PCB to the ring lug of the input jack. When a plug is inserted into the jack the shaft of the plug connects the ring to the sleeve which completes the circuit.

Thank you Steven for the lesson. It makes sense to me now.
