Hi, I finished building the Divided Octave pedal (my 1st pedal build) and it isn't working. I'd like some ideas on troubleshooting. If pedal isn't engaged (no led lights on), there's no sound. If I engage the pedal I hear what sounds like line noise. turning the mix knob doesn't seem to change the volume of the line noise, but turning the tone knob does change the tone of the line noise. Engaging bass only doesn't seem to do anything (other than light the led). I've triple checked resistors, diodes, caps, IC's and they all seem correct. The solder points look good. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is there any signal at the Aux output in either bypassed or engaged mode?

Thanks for the quick response.

I had a connection problem with input jack (your Aux questioned pointed me to the problem), I've resolved that problem. Here's what I have now.

Bypass switch works fine. When not engaged, I just get input signal (as expected) at both output and aux jacks.

When the pedal is engaged (stabilizer and ring both in off position).
- LED lights indicating it's on
- Dry signal at Aux jack (there seems to be a slight dip in volume at Aux when pedal's engaged)
- tone control changes tone
- mix control doesn't add the effect, just changes level and seems to change tone -
I don't hear any effect (octave).

When the pedal is engaged (stabilizer on and ring off position).
- LED lights indicating it's on
- Dry signal at Aux jack (there seems to be a slight dip in volume at Aux when pedal's engaged)
- tone control changes tone
- mix control doesn't add the effect, just changes level and seems to change tone
I don't hear any effect (octave).

When the pedal is engaged (stabilizer off/on and ring on position).
- LED lights indicating it's on
- Dry signal at Aux jack (there seems to be a slight dip in volume at Aux when pedal's engaged)
- tone control changes tone
- mix control doesn't add the effect, just changes level and seems to change tone
I can hear the ring modulator but no octave

When the bass only switch engaged (stabilizer off/on and ring off/on position).
- LED lights indicating it's on
- Dry signal at Aux jack (there seems to be a slight dip in volume at Aux when pedal's engaged
- tone control changes tone
- mix control doesn't change anything
I hear the dry signal, but at a much reduced level than when the pedal is not engaged.

I'm not hearing any octave at this time no matter what I try.

TIA for your help.

I pulled and re-installed the ICs and now all is well.

Excited to play with the pedal. Which pedal to build next???

Thanks for your help.

Ah, great to hear you got it working correctly. When I was looking through your photos I remember wondering if a couple of those IC's were fully inserted, but then I forgot to comment accordingly. Glad you figured it out for yourself!
