Thought I was pretty meticulous in my build but the Effects side does do some octave sounds, but underwhelming. If i click on Bass Only, all I get is a muffled sound like the tone on the guitar was rolled completely off. Looking for help, thank you!

Trying to upload better pics.

EDITED: High res pics below.

Take a look at your soldering of pin 4 of what I believe is IC2. It looks to me like there is a ball of solder on the end of the pin with none or very little on the solder pad. Pin 6 looks similar to pin 4. Pins 7&8 of IC1 also look suspect. I would suggest going over every solder joint with a magnifying glass to see if there are any other suspect solder joints like these.

You also seem to have a lot of solder spatter all over the PCB. These small pieces of solder can cause a short so you need to clean it all off of the PCB.

Thank you. Just did that and reflowed all solder with no positive results :(

Can you take voltage readings of pin 8, 3, and 5 of all the 4558 chips, please?

Finally got this sorted out. Had two of the ICs swapped.

Here are two must do mods that will bring your divided octave to life.

Replace R31 (82K) with a lower value to increase the octave level. I went with 47K which gives me an output that's a little higher than unity.

To offset the volume loss when engaging the BASS switch increase the value of R8 (22K). I took mine up to 220K and so far the results are very good.

Socket both resistors so you can tweak to taste.

i'm still really new to this.
can i switch R8 with 100k or 120k? 220k seems too high of an adjustment for what i'm looking for. thanks!

Give it a try! If you have sockets, that's the ideal way to test this kind of thing. But soldering in and removing a resistor a few times is pretty easy. I recommend leaving the leads intact and only inserting the resistor part way before soldering, so that it is easy to grasp if you decide to remove it. Then if you like it, you can melt one joint at a time and push it down flush with the PCB like the other components.
