First Post...long time builder and BYOC builder...
I'm doing a Divided Octave.
Noticed the Transistor ID on the Board is different than that in the .pdf...and in what is supplied.
The .pdf calls for a 5088 but the board is printed with a 3904. The .pdf reflects the 5088. However when I read the schematic it calls for a 3904. BYOC supplied the 5088 but it doesn't have a home on the board...only on the .pdf.
Any thoughts?
And thank you in advance!

They are both general purpose NPN BJT's and either should work fine. The quality and availability of 2N5088's seems to be more reliable these days, so that's what BYOC is currently supplying.

also building divided octave kit now with the 3094 5088 revision error.

I opted to load the 5088 in the board where the pdf/jpeg showed it, but naturally had to desolder a 3094 already pop'led there.

The BOARD (rev 1.1 , 2019 dated) called a 3094,
The INSTRUCTIONS still shows a board rev 1.0 , 2011.
Kit included a 5088 trans but not enough 3094 for the board as printed.

Wish I had the chops to know it was/not a swap that could have be left alone ...

since I was trying to be easy heating transistors this build; been on a recent box building binge,
and both FUZZ attempts ( leeds, lil black) are what I'd call pretty damn noisy when turned up.

Heres a confusing pix of the problem area- holding board over the on-screen pix

How many 2N3904s came in the kit, and how many 2N5088s?

I have the same issue. My PCB doesn’t match the diagram. Quantities of transistors matches what’s in the parts list.

Diagram calls for a 5088, my PCB calls for a 3904. Do I put the 5088 where it says 3904?

Again, my quantities per the parts list is correct.

Top pic is my PCB, bottom is the wiring diagram currently uploaded on the BYOC Divided Octave order page.

Yep, a 5088 should work anywhere a 3904 is indicated. The BS170 and 2N3906 have to go exactly where shown.

Thanks man. Thanks man, that's what I figured.
