I perfboarded one of these a while back. Real cool hi-fi sound and clarity. Cool for steel players. Anywho, I did a pcb layout(unverified). Cool build either in a guitar or in a box or even coupled w/ something else.

It's tiny. ~MJH

Looks cool, but why are a couple of the components (R1, R8, C2) missing values?
Any issues with volume loss?

R1: 1K
R8: 47K
C2: 1nf

Sorry about that. I fixed it above. No volume loss. In fact when the tones are flat there is 6db of gain through the whole circuit. Not a lot but enough to keep everything sparkling.

Cool, very useful. An EQ that doesn't cut volume is great. Will definitely give this one a try.

R3 says 4k7R. What is the actual value?

jesus, I'm just getting used to diylayout, So sorry.

R3 is 4k7

Sorry again, too focused on the diagram and not the parts list. ~MJH

PCB's would be killer :)

Just think of a tiny stand-alone EQ pedal you could make, if you had a pcb and used 9mm pots 8)

I would contribute $$ to be included. I have been looking at putting this very circuit in a project bass of mine for a couple of months.

Lets verify it first. I may be down for running off a few PCBs when verified.

One question, what is "neg" on the layout. And I assume there are 2 ground points on the PCB, right?

Yo D13, if you verify it and make PCB's, let me know. I think I'd take two :)

Yes there appears to be 2 ground points.
Here is some text regarding Jacks and power supply for this project:
you'll need a special switching jack since using the battery configuration precludes using a standard stereo jack to turn the power on and off

I'm familiar w/ a switching jack but do not have a part#. Anybody have any suggestions?
And DC is right this layout definatly needs to be verified. ~MJH

Anderton left that open (at least where I have seen the schematic), because it was part of a section on preamp design. There were a lot of choices over and above the EQ itself. He recomended a switch and the ability to bypass the whole thing in case your battery tanked.

Do you have the original schematic for this? I would love to see what's going on here. I am a little confused with the whole "neg" and battery explanation. I believe this an older circuit, so maybe we have to translate it, if you know what I mean.

I am also confused because "+9v" leads right into the "-" of C8 and "ground" is connected to the "+" of C8

I think a lot of people would love to have this.

The square pads are the positive leads on the lytics.
Here's the schematic I used.

Ignore the circled 2 on C4. It's value is as stated , 2n2 or .0022uf

Sorry again to everybody interested, that this seems a little scattered. If it gets pulled together, I found this to be a really simple useful circuit. I would love to see it modified to insert a mid pot in there also. Almost like an onboard parametric, talk about lights out! ~MJH

Hogan, I am gonna see what I can come up with, if you don't mind. I see you have pins 6 and 7 of the IC mixed up. The TL082 is pinned like this:

1 8
2 7
3 6
4 5

Give me a day or two. I am assuming the negative and positive only refer to battery wiring.

I fixed the pinout issue. Here it is again.

All diagrams in this thread are up to date and "correct".
You are correct on the neg and positive. They refer to the power supply.

I built one of these from Anderton's book "Electronics Projects for Musicians" back in the 80's. I still have it - it was SWEET, so I'mm gonna have to dig it out and re-house...
