Went to order some of these and decided I didn't like it. Most importantly, the board mounted LED was conflicting with the board mounted Pot, so I changed it.

Nice. Real tight layout. Mine should be on there way soon. I am looking coward to building them.

Ha - looking coward...

I have an old dragonfly etched board for this. Years old. Should probably build that up...

Haha. Damn iPhone and autocorrect. Anyway. I hope to get my boards any day now, too.

So, I put my protoboard together this friday, and just now tried it.
It's a very mild and pick sensitive fuzz/OD, not angry and wild at all.
Is this normal?? Haven't got my old vero Heavy Darling around any more, so just wanted to make sure.
My OSH Park board might make me extremely paranoid too hehe

What voltage do you get at Q1's collector? Should be close to 4.5V.

Change the value of the collector resistor. I think I had it wrong in my Eagle file. Should be about 1K5 to get you close to 4.5V.

Crosspost from my failthread:
I played the BBW Fuzz properly now with a PROPER 9V supply with vol knob at 3 o clock and also dimed.
I think it works as it should cuz as long as you play it sounds velcrovintage.
Really fast decay, so it works best with a bit of gain on the amp already.

So verified I think. Will try to bias it down to 4.5V and see if it does improve things.

The original schematic had an 1K8 at R3, your new eagle-shematic and what is soldered to my board is a 1K5. :)

You should be good to go with 1K5, actually. I may go back and see what my Q1 collector voltage is.

I love how so many people have learned EAGLE this last 2 years. Very liberating. So cool to be able to do up a design and, within a couple weeks, have boards shipped to you ready to solder. Of course, those surprise days-off where you get the itch to do up a quick fuzz, vero is always nice, too:)

I agree twang! I do have serious fail issues though, so maybe this protobussines isn't so good for my mental health.
Vero on the other hand ALWAYS works

When recording my soundcloud demo of this I once again got puzzled by the farty superfast decay and weak sound.
So I took readings of Q1 collector again, still 7,8V! Removed R3, put in a 10K pot and dialed in 4,5V. Boom!
Fat BBW Fuzz with normal decay and no farty thin sound, finally!
Had to bump up R3 1K5 up to 8K2 to bias it proper.
Don't know if my batch of MPSA13s are off specs, but be sure to bias Q1 to about 4,5V if you build this up!
