Here's the build doc for my 1 x 3 buffer and splitter boards, based on Jack Deville's schematic. These are a simple unity gain buffer that reproduces the input signal at the three outputs with no noise or tonal coloration. Perfect for running parallel effects chains, multiple amps, adding clean blend or stereo outputs to an existing pedal, etc. Use one, two, or all three outputs as desired. Cheers!

How would you "Add a clean blend to a pedal" like you say in the build document?

For running multiple amps, if there is ground loop hum can you just add isolation transformers at each output to eliminate the hum? Or is there a better way to do it?

Hi, sorry for the delay - didn't see your post. You'd run the 1x3 before the effect, connecting its first output to the input for the effect pcb. Then, you'd have to decide whether you wanted a single knob to control the blend, or separate knobs for wet & dry.

For single knob, connect the output of the effect to lug 1 of a pot (just about any linear pot would do). Connect the second output of the 1x3 to lug 3 of the pot. Lug 2 is the output, and the pot will control the blend.

For separate wet and dry knobs, simply connect output two of the 1x3 to lug 3 of a pot (say, 100kA), connect lug 3 to ground, and connect lug 2 to the output of the effect. Effect volume is wet, the new pot is dry!

There are probably other ways to do this, but these are the first two that came to mind. :)

If it were me, I'd just make sure that all my amps (and my pedal power supply) were plugged into the same outlet. That would eliminate the problem in most cases. If it doesn't, you could always consider a ground lift on whichever amp is causing the problem. Like one of these for a whopping $3: http://www.amazon.com/Prong-prong-groun ... B000I96AUM

I'll second this, it's a great sounding, colourless buffer which, though I feared it, I had zero issues with ground hum with multiple amps.
Thanks Jack & Justin! 8)
