So I was looking at different Muff layouts, and I came across the Musket Fuzz. I really like all that I been hearing, so I wanted to make one. But change a couple things a little. I don't know where in the bowels of my computer the original schematic I was working from went, but I have attached what I have done so far. So far my mods are...1-added an input cap switch. The schematic I was working from called for a 100n. So I also added a 1uF on a switch. Might end up being a little muddy, we'll have to see if that stays. 2-I have changed some component values (that is, I guessed at some values that weren't on the schem I was using, and changed a couple to things I had on hand.)

Now I have a question. I was thinking about changing clipping diodes. I know that will change the muff sound, but I can't leave well enough alone  If I were to change one set of diodes to LED's, would it be noticeable/horrible? I am currently without breadboard, so I'm trying to figure this out by theory. I also thought of putting the diodes on switches, but I think there are enough pots and switches for now (please don't hit me).

So thats all for now. Eagle schematic is attached for your enjoyment.

And as always any and all feedback is appreciated.

edit: removed zip

as for the LED's, yes, they'll make a difference - and it's worth doing!

as for the input cap... not sure it'll change things much. The low roll-off point is governed more by other caps later on, in each transistor stage.

Thanks for the input. I had sort of figured that would be the case, but don't have the experience yet. So should I change one set to LED, or both?

why not include both on the schem - and then lay out the board to accept either by placing the parts on top of each other? then the builder can tweak as desired 8)

ah, eagle..... endless nerdy fun :)

Ok, here it is. And I am also going for ugliest board layout :P But I do think my boards are getting better.
Latest Eagle files attached.
Let me know what you think.
I was considering trying a proto board of this. Does it look like everything should work? Or do I have major problems i need to fix before a proto?

Nothing stands out as incorrect. Wow, that makes for an expensive proto tho.

Yeah. Maybe I should wait until I am better at laying out a board before I try that one.

Sorry, I had forgotten about this. I did order a few boards from OSHPark. The layout is verified. And I really like the sound of this fuzz. Just watch your clipping diode placement. Eagle files are attached.

P.S. Still an ugly board
