Me thinks the power supply transformer died on the Tweed Royal. Would someone be gracious enough to give a newbie some direction. Everything working fine last night when I fired it up today no sound, no hiss. Took the following VAC readings with the rectifier tube out of the socket and switch in standby mode. Red to grnd (356), red to grnd (356), red to red (off scale at 999)
Gr to grnd (3.3), gr to grnd (3.3), gr to gr (6.6)
Yel to grnd (136), yel to grnd (143), yel to yel (5.3)
I thought the high voltage winding must be having issues. Don't understand how it could fail high.

If it does need replacement, what is your recommended supplier? Should I buy a more robust supply?

Thank you. Once this is fixed want to talk about a red fang substitute for the p12q Jensen

Put the rectifie back in put the standby back on and test B+ along the line (first filter+, 2nd filter +, etc...) this will give you an idea as to where the problem lies. Could just be a power tube.

Do the tubes light up and look good?

Thanks. Ok did what you said. Power on switch in stand bye and measured dc voltage on the pins 2 & 8 of the rectifier tube. 15 vdc on each, 0 vdc between the two pins. Turned switch on to PP and measured B+ on the power caps and 0 vdc on all three. bad 5y3?

All tubes look normal, ie glow, except the rectifier tube.

All signs point to a blown rec.

Thanks Mr Cups and Morgan. I have ordered a couple of tubes and will check it out. I have allot of power and preamp tubes kicking around. This is my first tube rectified amp.

What do you guys think about an Eminence Red Fang in this amp? The Jensen P12q is just not efficient enough for playing with the bands without micing. Love the sound though for quiet alone time.
