Finished my RT few days ago. Won't fit in 1x12 cabinet .

The mounting slot is .275 inch from edge of chassis. Supplied wing nut is .875 inch. Impossible to screw in..

Has anyone else experienced this ??????

I had that too. I'm not a fan of wingnuts, so I ultimately ditched them, but what you can do is hold the wing nut so the wings are parallel to the side of the chassis, and thread it on by turning the screw instead of the wing nut. Once it's threaded, the wings will prevent the nut from turning, and you can just turn the screw until the chassis is tight.

Make sense?

I follow the same procedure that Morgan described. What I've found that works well, esp. for those two mounting bolts in the back (actually the front of the cab) is to clamp a hemostat on the "wing" of the nut and hold it in place over the end of the inserted bolt, and turn the bolt with an electric screwdriver or drill. I find that it catches the threads very easily and gets the nut started. Then remove the hemostat and the narrow space holds the wingnut from turning while you drive the bolt the rest of the way to tight.

I guess I failed the IQ test!!

I think the thread screw size is a 10-24. Would a nylon nut hold better?

I typically use a kepps nut with blue locktite to hold the chassis in place, but it's your build and it's all up to you!

I finally charged up the driver. Not having three arms, put some padding under trans & went right in.

I built this for my wife's b-day, which is tomorrow. Thanks for helping me pull a rabbit out of my hat!!

thanx.

I've owned a 62 deluxe for last 30 yrs.

Carol has always liked the tone. She calls it little brownie.
I actually think the RT is really really close. A little less stiff. little more 'open'.

Very pleasing project.

This was intentional. You're not supposed to turn the wing nut. It's so that all you need to do is turn the screw from the easily accessible top side and so that you don't need to perform a contortionist act to keep the nut from turning.
