I just ordered the JTM45 kit. I am going to build my own cab as well. I just want to ask what would be the ideal speakers for a 2X12 sealed back cab ? I play everything from play that funky music to EVH Eruption......thanks !!

"Opinions vary", as they say, but my first choice would be either a pair of Celestion Greenbacks or Heritages for that classic British tone. Hellatone 30's from Avatar are a great match, too.

What he said. Greenbacks (and those in the family as duhvoodoman suggests) have a thing that is so associated with marshall that people think it's the amp putting out that part of the sound, but it's the greenbacks.

thankyou for the info. I very much agree that speakers and speaker enclosure's , and wiring configuration have ALOT to do with how any amp will sound, namely valve amps, and this seems at times to be overlooked by some... To be more specific , what would you feel would be the best impedance and wattage and wiring configuration for the JTM45. 2X12 greenbacks. thanks again !

My suggestion would be to get a pair of 16 ohm speakers and wire them in parallel for an effective impedance of 8 ohms. The big advantage there is that if one speaker or its connection fails, the second speaker remains operating, protecting the output transformer. For a series connection, that's not so.

yea,, that's the way I was leaning,, there is and has always been deep discussions on which is best, and all the supposed issues with each way like buffering etc., etc. its very easy to end up deep in the weeds with it all.. so with that said,, I will build this one the same as I have built others,, which is the way you suggested.... thanks !!

I just ordered the Celestion G12H Anniversary 30W UK-made 16 Ohm 12" they seem a little more suited for what music I play the most... which is predominantly clean.
