I finished it late last night and semi-buttoned it up. Pics in another thread, with more to be posted later (having connection issues at present.

In another thread i mentioned changing the power cord path to reflect modern safety practice. I made the changes (correctly, I think). You can see in the pic above that the power (the brownish color wire) goes from the ac cord, to the fuse tip, to the fuse lug, to the power switch in lug, to the power switch out lug and finally, to the power transformer where the yellow wire nut ties it with the brown and black wires from the PT.

Since the power goes to the fuse first, then to the on switch, the jewel light is not reveiving power yet, right?

If that’s the case, then my startup procedure should be:
1) install fuse and indicator bulb (leaving tubes out, speaker unplugged, and nothing in the input jack)
2) plug amp in (if my hunch is correct above, there is no power to illuminate the jewel)
3) turn on amp switch (now there should be power and the jewel should illuminate, right?)
While following the startup procedure outlined in the instruction, i got as far as plugging it in. The power light did not illuminate.

Please advise asap, as I’m anxious to try this puppy out!

Thx,

Mike

Do you have access to a multimeter and know how to use one to take both AC and DC voltage readings?

Check for AC voltage at each connection point from the incoming power cord through the fuse and power switch and into the PT ((should be ~120VAC). Also check the voltage at the lamp connections (~6.3VAC).

Thanks, DVM! I'll get to checking. Does my wiring look ok as far as routing (and the logic that got me there)?

Thx,

Mike

A larger close-up of the inside of the chassis would be a big help in evaluating this.

Well, my hunches were right and it’s all good now! The amp is up and running without incident! Thanks to all who assisted. I posted it in the “Show your completed builds” section.
