hello, i installed the 10uf cap in the wrong way, not paying attention to the instructions.
i've since replaced it with another.
drive channel works great
with the i/o bridged the boost operates as a volume
with the octave up module in, the effect is only very slight if anything at all.

with the cap in the wrong way, could anything else have been damaged and need replacing?

Very doubtful. You stated that the overdrive side of the pedal works fine, plus that cap is on the -9V output of the charge pump, which would only affect modules that use that voltage rail (Treble Boost & 27V Boost).

From your description, I'm not sure that there's anything wrong. For the boost, if you're using one of the clean boosts and have the effect order toggle set to "last", the main effect is more volume, even with the OD side engaged. Try switching it to "first" and run the OD side at a mid-range drive setting--kicking in the boost should then give noticeably more overdrive to the output because of the higher gain signal feeding it.

As far as the octave goes, that effect changes markedly depending on the character of the guitar signal going into it. Try playing from your neck pickup on the G-B-E strings around the 12th fret and see if the effect is stronger--it should be.

P.S. The pedal is called the Crown Jewel. It's best to stay away from the Crown Royal while building one....

ha ha, i don't think we have crown royal down under, must have been looking at my echo royal.

ok, with- drive off
- boost on octave module
- first or last
playing normally, i can here very little to no effect, and a low fi glitchy sound behind the guitar tone.
playing very lightly, i can start to hear the effect, it's only slight but it is there, if i let a note ring it breaks up and fades away in a lo fi way as if something is choking it. as soon as i play normally again the guitar takes over and the effect goes back to being a low fi glitchy sound behind the guitar tone.

Is the octave module the only one you have? Could you please post photos of it, front & back?

Do you have access to a multimeter and know how to use one?

i first made the mosfet, but i put the diodes in the wrong way,
i then found the cap in the wrong way and replaced that.
i then made the octave, pictured, which i dont think is working correctly.
i have since made the LPB, which is awesome.

I do have a DMM, the one from the BYOC starter kit. i know how to use it on a car.

i have 11 modules but i havent made them all yet, and i used a cap out of the 27v boost to replace the one on the board.

Build looks pretty good. I'd redo a couple of the solder joints in the middle left, but otherwise looks ok. Are the transistors in the correct places?

I.e. is the 3906 in the correct position? If it is, then the two 3904's must be right, as well.

Yes, the transistors are in the correct position.
