Build Your Own Clone Message Board

It’s been a long day, got it all together & bypass working but no effect. Noticed both ic not yet installed. Put them in and the left side is up and running but only a hiss that gets loud if I crank the gain on the right side. Any thoughts?

As an aside, until my solder sucker and wicking wire arrived in the mailbox, I had never accidentally plugged a random hole in a PCB. In the same vein, since I started following the advice here, I don’t complete the art on an enclosure until the pedal tests ok. Didn’t used to - never a problem… started exercising caution and now they ALL have issues. Lol.

I'd start with a solder reflow, and then take voltage readings on the IC pins (just the side that isn't working) if that doesn't do the trick.

Thanks, I swapped the ic chips, no change so a reflow and a test then. Going to the big city for a concert today so I’ll get to fixing tomorrow. Assembled an E.S.V. germanium fuzz just so I could have a feeling of accomplishment.

Just a note to say, even half assed, the working side of Royal Flush pushing the Mouse - well I can’t get enough of that sound.

Well, I pulled the pcb, removed the “gain” pot to access the back of the ic socket. Reflowed that and just about everything else I could reach on that side. Reinstall & boom, all is well. Queens of the Stone Age are awesome live BTW.
