Can one of our bright stars have a look at the dual 808 wiring diagram? When I pull down the vol of the 2nd channel, while playing the 1st channel, it affects vol 1. Way down, around 1 (vol) on the 2nd channel....is where it starts to cut vol on channel 1...
Also, the way the diagram is, one of the channel LED's are on all the time....but I figured that one out.

Thanks
Geek

Matt,
If you were speaking of the 2nd channel vol, it didn't work...messed up both volumes....

Where's the original diagram?

K

EDIT: Found it. The diagram is wrong.

The level pot is a voltage divider - if you switch lug 3, the unselected pot will still act in parallel with the one selected, and pull your signal to ground.

You need to switch lug 2 of those pots. Loop lug 1 and 3, put lug 2 on the switch.

Just wire the "do-hickie" to the "what-cha-ma-call-it" and then add that to the "thing-a-ma-jig" and wha-la... your done...

What's the TSA? I'm going to an ampfest in kenilworth N.J. to hob-nob with some badass builders...Andy Fuchs, Ken Fischer are rumored to be going, along with many of my forum "guru's"....then I'll be seeing a performance of my best buddies re-union gig, featuring the 18watt Trex I built (gave it to him as a present), then it's off to Mass to check out the inventory of a 75 year old electronics company, that one of my amp guru's bought out, and I'll be bringing my wish list, and BOM's....then it's thanksgiving with some lucky member of my family....then visit friends, and come back on the 28th.....gotta deliver those pedals so I can rent a car!

K,
Does 2 still get connected to the board, or just the switch, now?

thanks,
Jeff

L1 and L3 goes direct from board to pots.

L2 goes from board to a middle lug of a pole on the switch.
The outer throws of that pole goes to lug 2 on their separate pots.

Guys,
I have been running wires 1 and 2 from the lugs of the first vol pot, to the 2nd vol pot. Which vol pot are you speaking of, 1 or 2?

Getting dumber

Both!

Read it again!

Run L1 from board to pot 1 lug 1 then loop to pot 2 lug 1
Run L3 from board to pot 1 lug 3 then loop to pot 2 lug 3
Run L2 from board to switch as described

- Got it?

Got it.

EDIT

Wasn't sure what you meant by looping. I was thinking "jumpering", but your last literal explanation showed me the light. thanks once again!

I finished my dual channel screamer the other day. I am noticing that the volume is a little on the low side. I am going to check my wiring when I get home to what you are describing Kahel.
I still get some boost, but it is not much.
I ran both of the wires to the board and soldered them together there.

I see how that could be misunderstood. This thread is a very good example of how a simple drawing says more than a thousand words.

I'll just stick to making diagrams from now on... ;-)

It doesn't matter where you join the wires, so that's okay. Looping/jumping from one pot to the other is just more practical in many cases, the pots are usually close together.

There's another issue here I haven't mentioned yet: When wiring the levels pot this way, the unselected pot is still in the circuit with its full resistance. It act as a 100k resistor to ground, in parallel with the selected pot. This may be irrelevant, or it may contribute to a slightly lower output volume overall (like having a 50k pot instead of a 100k pot here).

To check what effect it has, just desolder lug 3 of the unselected pot and listen.

BTW - This thread has everything in common with the "My delay idea..." thread:
