If anyone was curious I found out how to increase the output considerably. Simply replace the 10k resistor that is located directly above V2 on the PCB with a 100 ohm resistor. You will really notice a difference when you get above 3 o'clock on the volume knob.
This is one way to do it, but if you do the maths, you'll find that you're only getting about a theoretical 10% volume boost. That's somewhere around 1 dB. It's something, but I'm not sure that'll be enough for me.
If you want some SERIOUS volume, than I think you'll have to add a second op amp at the output section. I've been a little perturbed by the volume drop in this pedal, and have been trying to figure out a way to get more output. Your method offers a quick and easy fix, but if we want to get more than unity gain from this pedal, we're going to have to do some more drastic mods.
I love the sound of the Dist+. I don't intend to change a thing about the basic circuit, because I think it works great for my purposes and with what I'm doing. I'm going to attempt a second build of this pedal on some perfboard. I've never done something this complicated before – not that it's really very complicated. But I'm going to try ordering another 250+ kit minus some components, plus a few extra parts. Anyone have any recommendations as to which op amp I might want to use to get a transparent output sound?
