Hello!

I build my OD1 a few months ago. It has never really gave me any problems. Had to patch up a few solders, but technically, it works fine.

However, it just doesn't punch. It sucks all the life out of my tone and gives me a nasally high whiny overdrive.

I wanted a transparent light overdrive. But this just takes out all the color of my tube amp and sounds awful.
Is this a problem with my build? Or is that just the reputation of the OD1?

Sounds like an issue. One thing to not like the tone, but if it is whiny and lacking life, it could be a build issue.

Give us some clear closeups of both sides of the board and full wiring.

Yup, sure sounds like something wrong. Not everybody likes the mid-heavy tone of TS-type overdrives, but "nasally high whiny" is definitely not how I've ever heard it described!
