I have just finished my first pedal, the 250+ to Dist+ specs and it works!!! The only thing is, is that when engaged, if I have the distortion knob fully down and the volume all the way up there is a noticable volume drop. Is this normal? Any way of boosting the volume?

Cheers

Si

Please post pics. you've probably got an incorrect resistor value somewhere.

I have double checked it and it all looks ok to me. Maybe it's just my amp, or I was expecting something different.

Any ideas?

Take a look at R5 (near where the volume control connects). It's supposed to be 10K, but it looks like you've got a 100K in there. That resistor is right in the signal path, so I'd be willing to bet a couple of bucks that that's your problem.

It might also be worth double-checking R4, since I can't really tell its value from the pics.

Oh, you've got the drive knob all the way down? I didn't notice that till just now. Of course you will lose a good deal of volume when you do that. The dist+ specs don't have a whole lot of volume boost. You will get more volume if you replace the germanium diodes with the 1N4001 diodes. It won't give you quite as much saturation in the distortion, but will give you quite a bit more volume.
