I built a Crown Jewel last month and the drive channel works great (and I gotta say, it sounds *excellent* -- what a remarkable and versatile pedal!) Something went wrong, however, with my boost channel. When I turn it on, I get total silence. I built a second module and found the same thing happened when it was inserted, so I imagine I've done something wrong on the main PCB rather than on both of the modules.

I'm going to troubleshoot it tomorrow, but I was wondering: could someone highlight the boost circuit for me on the PCB so I know where to focus my attention? I assume most things on the PCB are connected to the drive circuit, and since that works great, I'd rather leave it alone and only mess about with the circuit that isn't working. Any other ideas or tips would of course be welcome too. Cheers and thanks!

- Rob

I don't think anyone has gone through the PCB in the kind of detail you are looking for to highlight just the boost portion of the circuit. But feel free to refer to the labeled PCB diagram and the two schematics that you'll find here: viewtopic.php?p=472445#p472445 The key portions of the boost circuit are in the second schematic, and you can cross-reference the component numbers to the labeled PCB diagram.

The only things the main board contains for the boost circuit is the various voltage supplies to the pins (+9V, +18V, -9V, +4.5V and ground) and the signal input, output & associated switching systems. If you have a multimeter and a signal tester, it's an easy thing to check that the voltages are correct and if signal is present at the input and output.

I would also strongly recommend that you post some photos of your build. They should be LARGE, well-lit, well-focused shots of both sides of the PCB and all of the jack and switch wiring.

It was the switch -- I'd botched a connection with the hook-up wire. All good now. Cheers!

I got the same problem but that wiring seems right

I surely have to recheck all solderings but my question is

In a normal situation, a perfectly working pedal, if i press the boost switch but without inserting the boost module, what is supposed to happen?
It will continue sounding or there will be total silence?

Silence--the signal path will dead-end at the input pin to the non-present boost module. But the drive side will continue to work, as long as the boost side isn't engaged.
